Overview

Nestled in the heart of Venice, Florida, Lord-Higel's Coffee House stands as more than just a coffee shop—it is an experience woven into the fabric of a beautifully restored historic home. Located at 409 Granada Ave, this charming café offers a serene retreat for coffee lovers seeking both quality and ambiance.

From the moment you step onto the breezy wrap-around porch, adorned with vintage tropical chairs, baskets of ferns, and antique floral vases, you’re transported to a laid-back afternoon reminiscent of old Florida charm. The natural sunlight filters through large windows surrounding the space, crafting an airy and inviting environment that encourages lingering conversations or peaceful solitude.

The highlight here is undoubtedly the coffee. Proudly sourcing top-tier beans, including those favored by aficionados of Black Gold, Lord-Higel's delivers consistently exceptional brews with meticulous attention to detail. Whether it’s a signature honey latte rocked gently on the porch’s oak chairs or a customized Bullfrog latte with oat milk, the craftsmanship shines through every cup. This is a place where the art of coffee meets genuine care—passed on by warm, knowledgeable baristas who treat each order with thoughtful precision.

The historic setting enriches the experience. The owners have lovingly preserved the home’s original charm, intertwining history with modern hospitality. Informational signs offer a glimpse into the building’s past, fostering a deeper connection beyond the sensory delight of the coffee itself. The spacious, comfortable seating invites you to unwind and savor moments, making it ideal for those who prefer a meaningful coffee break over a rushed grab-and-go.

This coffee house caters to a community that values atmosphere as much as their drink—urban explorers, history enthusiasts, local residents, and visitors looking to discover a unique taste of Venice’s heritage. The staff’s friendliness and passion elevate the visit from ordinary to memorable, often creating personalized touches, like hand-crafted crochet cup cozies, that add a homegrown warmth to the setting.

For anyone craving a thoughtfully curated coffee experience nestled in a stunning historic venue, Lord-Higel's Coffee House is a rare gem. It is a perfect blend of aesthetic beauty, rich local history, and artisanal coffee culture—a space designed to brighten even the grayest days with a sip and a smile.

Hands down and by FAR the most aesthetically beautiful coffee house I have ever had the pleasure of spending time in. This is THE coffee shop I have been WAITING FOR. The atmosphere is immaculate - like a laid back afternoon on the porch of an old Florida home; baskets of ferns, antique vases of flowers on every table, tropical-tone vintage chairs beneath a breezy canopy... and the coffee. Don't even get me started. I'm a die hard Black Gold fan, and now we have the buzz of the best beans paired with the blissed out vibe of Lord-Higel's. Every member of the staff is a rockstar. The owners are the most fabulous humans. I cannot gush enough about this place. Go. Just go. If I'm having a crappy day, all I need to do is go and sip a honey latte in an oak rocking chair on the porch of Lord-Higel's and even my worst day gets 10x better.

Stopped in for an evening coffee and I’m so glad we did. The home’s historic charm and original details are just as delightful as the owner, who clearly takes pride in sourcing only the highest-quality beans — you can truly taste the difference. From the cozy aesthetic to the exceptional coffee, this place is hard to beat.

This coffee shop is a gem … a true gift to Venice. We enjoyed coffee there yesterday. The setting is so sweet in this historic house, meticulously maintained, decorated beautifully with a comfortable wrap around front porch with tables and rocking chairs, and the house itself has large windows on all sides making it airy and bright. The owners of the coffee shop showed great pride in their new venture, answering questions about the history of the building and business and were so warm and welcoming. The coffee was great. We did not try the bakery goods but they looked amazing!

I love this coffee shop so much, I just moved to the neighborhood and go frequently. The staff are so sweet and welcoming. If you’re looking for a quick coffee shop this probably isn’t the place for you. But if you are looking for an experience where you can appreciate a quality coffee with wonderful scenery you would really love this spot. The staff take their time perfecting your drink (consistency is key) my drink tastes amazing every time! Cannot compliment the staff enough for their hard work and kindness, one of the amazing staff members gifted me a crochet Cup Cousy she made. Check out her art insta @peacefully_crafted If you are ever interested in trying their coffee but don’t have time for long lines check out their other Location called Black and Gold!

I found my new fave coffee spot! Took myself on a coffee/biz date and this place was everything I needed and wanted. The space is absolutely beautiful, coffee is wonderful (and they have decaf options which many do not) and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The porch is beautiful. I was there for 3 hours working and can't wait to go back! Excited to go in the evening for a glass of wine and charcuterie!

This place is just incredible. We’ve lived in Venice for 3 years and have been searching for a gathering place like this. I can’t say enough good things. We were greeted inside by the sweetest girl who was attentive and quick. We ordered the BBQ chicken flatbread - enough to share and had great flavor. The Rose was perfect for an evening on the incredible wrap around porch. So much to love and I’m sure they’ll get sick of me visiting all the time!!

This is a brand new location that just opened a few weeks ago and is a sister location to Black Gold. The atmosphere is awesome, with plenty of seating around the wrap around porch and a little garden area with seating as well. There is also limited seating inside. Definitely the perfect place to grab a coffee and hangout for a while! There are also heat lamps all around the porch to keep you comfortable if it’s a chillier morning or evening. There was a variety of pastries to choose from and some more substantial options too! We got the egg salad sandwich which had good flavor to it! Nice variety of coffees to choose from and we both enjoyed what we got! Definitely recommend checking it out, we will be back!
